What are you thinking about exhaust system in 340 and 360.
I haven't got last silencer. Now my 340 "sounds like a melody"

My end pipe is from S70

It looks nice, but I really don't like cars that make a lot of noise.

i want a deep rumble from my car...... if i remove the silencer.... and get a big deep roaring box, would i achieve this.
I dnt no how 340's perform with exhaust notes hence this question.
I think if i just slapped on a back box would not make no difference right?
I was going to get like a peco big bore type of back box.
i dnt want a raspy exhaust note like them jap style boxes give far too loud and headachy! Iv had enough of that from my other car.

Ideally for performance, you want to make a custom exhaust system from manifold back for the most gains, however going after manifold back in a larger diameter should be good.
On mine at the moment i have swapped the rear box and axle bend assembly to a 2" system and when the engine is swapped the whole system will be 2"

If you just want the car to rumble then your safe with pretty much any backbox, it won't be raspy unless you start touching the centre silencer, just find one in a style you want with the right inlet size and you should be sorted, then just find a way of attatching it, mine is currently held up with the original rubbers and coat hanger wire

the officer of the law didn't notice that the other night though!

if i just slapped on any back box wont make no difference at all because of the silencer right.
But then again if i remove silencer then i should get the desired note?

No if you fit a "performance" backbox then it will be deeper and rumble at low revs but remain quite quiet at high revs, most performance boxes use the perforated core type muffler (just a pipe goes through with holes in it and steel wool or glasspack inside) rather than the resonater type thats on there now, if you just remove the silencer it'll sound like your backbox has fallen off, deep yes but also just sound nasty and rough

Duno what car youve got but on my 1.4 I used a peco box with 37mm inlet which was about right and im using a box with a 50mm inlet which is right for the 2L, just so that you know what kind of size your looking for. Your best bet for doing the mounts properly would be to hacksaw them off your old backbox and weld them to the new one if you've got a welder (provided the new box is mild steel). If you cant do that then i'd suggest using the mount already on the new box and hooking it up to the rubbers nearest the bumper somehow and then just use some wire to hold the box up at the other end to the other mount (it should be strong enough without provided its all clamped together properly but will add strength)

Sorry guys but peco is one of my pet hates!
A back box is the cheap answer to getting a bit of sound out a car but the best bet is to go for a full system. My 2" system works wounders for the go and sound. Even with the big boxes I have used she sounds nice but is quiet on moterway runs.
If ppl wanted I could get a couple of systems made up to fit the 1.7 and 1.4 cars.

No worries you didn't offend me, mine was off a Ford Ka from a scrappy for £15! lol, just depends what you want from from the exhaust 340_singh, a backbox will rumble a bit at idle but go almost normal sounding at high revs (at least it was like that on my 1.4 but isnt on the 2L), a full system will keep this deep tone all the way through the rev range, easy solution would be to take your backbox off and give it a drive to see what you think, a performance backbox will smooth out the noise making it sound a lot nicer than without a backbox but it'll give you some idea as to how loud it'll be in all the different rev ranges,
cheers

Having been a passenger in Adams car I can honestly say I really liked the exhaust note he'd achieved, as it wasn't annoyingly loud when up to speed, but sounded just right on acceleration. But it's all down to personal preference.

Wiktor, I've been meaning to ask about the small red border around your reversing light lenses, is that your own touch, or possibly a requirement by law in Poland? Also your indicator lense looks a darker orange, more red even, unless it's just the light. Cheers.
