What do ppl think to and axtra forum.
If we had a section for technical articles. This would be a good area to show how it is done.
eg gauge fitting instructions, testing for air leaks etc etc.

What do you think?

Good idea, I think it has been mentioned before... but lazyness on behalf of some people (AYMAT!!! :P) meant it hasn't come about yet.

Maybe a new sectoin of the forum strictly for 'how to' articles, which can be locked to avoid people posting within the article threads?

Good idea also can there be a sub section for less technical people's experiences on the topics eg when a local garage fixes something as in my case usually we still have to learn

It's a good idea which I like. I know for example Foggy has a lot of the Volvo instructions, so they would be handy like the bodykit fitting one (hint!) and gauges and then peoples own experiences, tips, methods and with pictures would be even better. As Steve says, locking the threads off would stop unrelated reponses, but sometimes additional info could be useful, rather than finding another thread with more info, or different methods. Soooo, maybe something inbetween, special rules for that section where repsonses must be only to do with the particular method or subject in question, if not start a new thread in the relevant section. This could cover a lot of items, from the complex items, to as Mickt says, some of the handy items that could still do with some guidance.

We could do with going through some of the old posts, as I know for a fact there are info sheets and some really useful how to info hidden away in there. Maybe if Aymat develops the section when he finds time, or in the new site (which he may have already designed this feature into it) the moderators he picks for the job could check the additional posts are relevant to the help section.

I'm glad there is some support for this.
The moderator would need to be strict to keep things on topic. We know the way it goes
will these wheels fit my?

I need a new rear light
sm6 sm6 sm6 sm6
My car is leaking water

THis is haw you make a@@~## fit.

We are all as bad as each other for drifting off topic.

The information would need to be kept in a sensible way

Great idea, Dai's right though, it needs just to be articles. What I reckon it should be is only a couple of mods should be able to post, with everybody sending their articles to them.

Another agree here, especially with Andy's point of submitting to a mod for posting!

I agree too, something where any irrelevant posts are deleted just leaving the technical instructions.

I did write an 'Idiots guide to Front Polybush Install' that may be of use - equally the sticky on 340 carb probs should be included.
