That's a good idea, I was only thinking about the different models we had on the forum and their age related parts the other day! It will be interesting to see just how many have survived, and are owned by members on V3M, it's just a shame we are missing so many 300 owners, and their cherished cars, which may well be appreciated more if they knew they weren't alone in liking 300's! But hopefully with Micks stickers and I am working on the cards for leaving on windscreens, we can encourage more 300 owners to join, including owners of the rarer models and older cars.

well i have started collecting parts for the mk1....these mk1s seem to be few and far so collecting the parts while you can seems to be a good idea
at the moment mk2 and mk3 dont seem to be a problem with spare parts there are several all the time in my local scrap yard

I have a few spare sets of mk1 brake pads if anyone is interested.
I love the mk1 because they are different but the mk3 suits my needs at the mo as an everyday car.

Ive got a Mk1 343 1980. I havent started collecting parts for this car yet but I know I need two front wings as the ones currently on the car arent thr right ones... someone has "fitted" some from a later 340!
They are quite rare but the Daf Club in Holland can supply most parts I think. They are great for 44,55,66s including volvo 66s.
Im interested in getting some parts for it just in case. Prob need to look over it more thoroughly to decide what I need....

Dai, dya know what cars the volvo 66 and volvo 343 share parts with eg brakes? Ive heard they are the same as the Mk1 escort....

I know the rear shoes are the same as the mk1/2 escort .
The rear cylinders are the same as later escorts.
Dont know about the front though.

ATM we have 2x Volvo 343 1978.
thats what we call first type, second generation. 1980 is third generation (lots of 'updates'! i.e. interior totally wasted)
one of them is metallic blue, the other one is the special version 'black beauty' (you guess the colour now)
the metallic blue one has had its new MOT _today_ and will be sold shortly.
the black beauty will be prepared and imported (MOT+paperwork) before the summer.
at the V3C site there are quite a few more guys who have V300 oldies!!! mostly GLT lovers I see here
greetings Wouter

I like MK1s.. One day when I'll have enough money I will buy an MK1. Throw in a 3.0l 24V PRV with turbo or two, drivetrain which will handle enough power, coil overs and discs all around and then some body work so it will look like 363CS prototype.. That is my dream and plan, only if I would have some cash.

Yes I am nuts, I'm aware of that.

had a mk1 343 with incredibly low mileage and an lpg conversion that i recently sold on ebay for, apparently, the previously unheard of sum of 520quid!! while the car wasn't my cup of tea, i can appreciate why so many of you like 'em..superb build quality, solid feel, comfortable seats and the wee car felt so much bigger and better than the escort class car it was when new.....mmmm..i'm wondering if ishould try an find a nice 3 dr 360 glt...i really like those..the only thing that really annoyed me about my 343 was its weedy 1400c engine, i'm sure 115hp of lusty 2 litre in the same shell would make a huge difference?...AND iv just sold my amazon, so i'm currently volvoless...oh my wee wheels are turning now......

we could start a register for each model if the administrator had time , it would be interesting to see how many of the different models produced we actually have here ( 343 ,345 ,340 ,360, )being an old fart Im not that good at setting things up on computers but it cant be that hard to record model , spec ( dl , gle , glt etc ) and special editions , birdie ,calypso,REDLINE, blueline etc ) and obviously the varios

I don't mind collating the data. If people want to PM the info to me I'll stick it into a database. Maybe we could also include cars that we have owned but have now moved on, chassis number (as per Aymat's thread), a picture, whatever.
I'll be on holiday next week though, so wouldn't be able to do anything for a while.
[edit] Or maybe Aymat will include a register on the new site that we can update ourselves

Unfortunatley 3 door 360s are damn rare now! Though they do come up, you'll most definitely have to travel a bit to get one. A good choice though - an almost modern(ish) classic!

In here MK2 GLTs are getting kinda rare. Though don't see many MK3 GLTs either.

340s mostly. There's a very nice MK2 GLT for sale near me, no rust, full service history, from second owner, 121,000 miles, metallic colour, MK2 GLT alloys, fogs, older model spoiler, rear louvres etc... Though it's not cheap but in here it is a wonder if you find a 300-series in good shape which doesn't have rust in it so it's not that expensive either. Would buy it if I didn't have a car already. Would be good engine to throw in a turbo too with good engine managment or by changing the pistons because it's B19E so stronger rods.. And no hassle with smog regulations because it's pre -86..

(Well I would buy it if I would have the cash for more cars..

) Hope that it goes for someone who doesn't destroy it.
