Does anyone have any idea what power a Volvo 240 GL with a B230E lump should push out?

B23E from early 80's had around 130hp. 129 in some and 140hp in the 244GLT. Not too sure about the B230E though.
My '81 Estate (when I was in Melbourne, Aus) had around 134hp (from memory..)
Damn reliable those things.
Go to

Yeah I read through that earlier, very interesting. He give's the power of all the Bxx engines, but when it comes to the Bxxx engines he doesnt tell you. And I've given up googling for it!
As far as I can tell it had an A-cam so its probably down on power compared to the B230s in the 7/900. Ideally I'd like the power and torue figures for a bit of comparison though!

According to these guys it's 131hp.
Slightly easier to read than volvoadventures too!
Enjoy

Just noticed - 131 nice guess!

Sounds about right to me. B23E was either 136bhp (K cam (81-83?)), or 140bhp (H cam (78-80?!)). Kinda funny, I have more power with my B200 NA than the B23 with the same cam

But then James, thats probably more power than I had in the 2.7litre V6!!!
They may drink more fuel than an Aircraft Carrier and be more temperamental than a 3yr old but I did really like the revvy and responsive characteristic of the B27.
That old 265GL was fun to drive - it just took a while to get used to the touchy power steering. You could almost steer by blowing on the wheel!!

I think that may have something to do with the 2 whooping great big carbs that are happily bolted to your engine

Maybe
The B27 was a lazy old thing - 140bhp from 2.7l?!
