1.4 Fuel Economy

Hi guys a bit of a query really. My 1.4 is giving very poor fuel economy at the mo. Does anyone have any ideas.
The carb is in as new condition as i rebuilt it not so long ago. At the moment the car is running quite lean and only returning around 170-200 on a full tank. The car does get driven hard i admit that but even so, i would of thought it would return at least 250!!
The tank has a dent underneith which i know will decrease tank capacity but its not a large dent so??? According to the comp the car is doing 28 or so to the gallon whic is accurate!! Any idea why the range is so poor?
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers Adam

What situations are you driving in? Something does seem to be up but it'll be able to give other people a gauge of how bad if you distinguish between short town from cold trips vs longer dual carriageway trips for example.

For my money, rotor cap and arm, always change those when fuel consumption increases on a B14...

Is she down on power could be loss of compression- worth testing.
