I am looking for a 5 speed gearbox that will bolt up to a redblock, it needs to be strong, and cheap! I am also after a redblock bottom end or complete engine to rebuild, must also be cheap, but also needs to be the stronger version, B23ft? not sure which one is best, so any advice would be appreciated, I am in no rush for the above bits by the way, but will buy them when ever the right ones turn up

are you looking for a 360 application or?
if 2/7/900, use a m90 tranny. a b23ft is a very strong cheap engine, hard to find though.
the other good block is a 91+ b230, with the best being the 93+.

Gotta be a B23ET over here Aaron! Damn yanks
M90 is the box to go for...but...you do know that'd mean major transmission tunnel surgery in a 300, right?
I'd say fit a complete 360 drivetrain, then see what breaks. Ought to be halfshafts, then torque tube, then box...maybe box first if you treat it like you stole it...however unlike our colonial cousins there, we know how to change gear without destroying a box on the first attempt.
My devious plan for if/when I need it is a Corvette C5 box - another RWD transaxle, and I think it
might be able to hold a few torques.
cheers

with the amount of power I intend to make, the 360 drivetrain will need to be swept up the first time I drop the clutch, hence the switch to conventional trans. what cars had an m90 in?

I know of a complete 360 with a redblock that can be driven away

mick, dont tempt me, if I had room, it would be on my drive...
BTW, I have tryed to scan the article for you, but as I am alergic to computers I am having trouble, I can only manage to make what looks like a picture of a badly pixelated noddy car, still trying tho...

I've got a M47 lying around you can have for £50.
No clutch or flywheel with it, nor does it have the cut-out for a Crank Position Sensor (Easily fixed with an angle grinder....)

M90 comes in a post 93 940. You'll find it right behind the post 93 block you want

Track down a 1041 (LSD) rear end from a 940 Wentworth (2.0T) (EDIT: and other things, but that's a known virtually guaranteed source) - those are supposed to hold good power. I'm guessing that cutting the trans tunnel doesn't bother you then

Husky, will you be selling the block, or even just the manifolds? I have the perfect place they'd fit if you are going redblock... If this is a long term project, I'll happily wait till you're under way with the project, as I'll hopefully have a driver sorted out on Monday

Andi,
Try a search on TBricks. There are quite a few LSDs which will fit in a 240 diff housing.
cheers

chris, this is a long long long term project, next winter at the earliest, at the moment the current configuration still has loads more potential, and hopefully I will soon be fitting 16v head, and nitrous, I recon about 300 bhp is achiveable with a turboed 16v b18ft/f16ie hybrid - obviously this will at some point require changing the manifolds- you will be the first to know- it may also mean I change the hole engine in one lump, again you will be the first to know, but anyone who buys an engine off me would need there head tested, by the time im done it'll be a smoking ruin!!!

Lol, I did think that mate, which is why the manifolds might be the answer

Although between Dai and Foggy, there seems there might be a different, non welding route, but need investigating.
Mick, is it still for sale?
