Bus Lanes hmph

Post by pettaw »

Seems I got caught parking in a Bus Lane, well right at the end of it, not by a Gatso but by the CCTV. Luckily no points but a 100 quid fine. Well, 50 if you pay by 14 days.

Expensive lesson and expensive trip to Maplins :x

So be careful everyone, you are being watched :?

Doh! It seems these systems do work. The number plate recognition stuff is everywhere, I spotted the BP fuel stations have a system, so it's easier to catch the non payers that drive off. I know the London CONgestion charging systems of number plate recognition work! £8 it costs now to drive into central London, which for my work is often essential when I do need to go in, walking, trains, taxis etc are not an option with tools, furniture and other stuff! But I have a picture of my old GLT entering the London CONgestion zone from their cameras. There was talk of how they'd never be able to enforce it, and that the systems wouldn't cope, and that it was actually people with clipboards taking number plates in a few places to try and catch a few people and set an example.

Government and the law have been barstewards for years , 12 years ago I drove for the emergency doctor service we used striped up fiestas with grrn roof lights and despite being on emergency calls we were always being done for speeding ,
One of the doctors I drove for was a police surgeon and despite him sending in a letter saying we were going to see a baby with meningitis I still got 3 points and a £40 fine

Went to Maplin's for a new battery for my radio and took a look at the 'OK-corale' area. There's a big sign saying "This is a CCTV site - Keeping Barnet Safe" Or summat like that.

Yeah right, it was focused on the Bus Lane (which isn't even active yet) and the double yellow inside the end part of it. There was one guy parked on the double yellow. Wonder if they'll get a nice surprise in the mail in a couple of weeks?

Deffo won't be parking there again. I parked well away! :D

I saw a speed camera with a bin bad over it a while back, not sure if it was out of order, or a clever motorist. Good trick, as you can't be done for criminal damage, only littering :)

Andy, they're really keeping the place safe aren't they with their cameras looking at bus lanes and double yellows!? How about they start leaving the motorists alone, and start catching the thieving low life that steal car audio equipment and drain petrol tanks.

Where the mobile Police unit parks in the village near us, they are actually blocking visibility from a side turning, but you could easily park alongside them in a high sided van and block their view! What could they do about that? Seen this done with speed cameras, vans parked infront of them in residential areas. A local farmer got flashed by a camera, and went back later on and dragged it out of the ground with a tractor, so the legend goes......! It never got replaced either.
