My clutch pedal has started getting really high since i let my bro use the car
it started slipping last week so i completely popped it
now i have a problem.
i have been told that the only way to get the "torque tube" (think thats what they called) off is to drop the diff and swing it back.
i have dropped the diff, unbolted the clamps from each end of the tube, and unbolted the bracket under the gearstick where a stabiliser bar goes to and it still will not come off! ive spent far to long messing about with this now. has anyone ever done one of these and any idea what is stopping me, have i missed something?

Have you removed the flywheel guard plate from the front of the clutch bellhousing?

BTW you don't need to drop the diff on these. Just slide the propshaft forwards to get it off the gearbox and then back to get it off the engine.

hi personally i would of taken the engine out its much quicker and easyer

Hold on yours is a 1.4? It should just have a prop that you knock forward to take off.

you'll have to undo the small hex bolts in the retainer blocks first, but after that the driveshaft is easily removed.

support the engine with a stand at the clutch side; then remove the engine supports (3 bolts each) and finally the clutch housing.

don't forget to change the clutch bearings (3) and the tolerance ring,
and also don't forget to center the clutch plate before you do up the bolts

I had another crack at it today, still no luck, jacked the diff and gearbox up and put the nuts back on so it is back at the correct height. the prop has no Universal join so i gathered it wouldnt slide off if it wasnt sitting on the spline straight, tried to smack it forward from the gearbox with no luck. it seems like it is ceased on there and it is really ticking me off.
i took the retainer blocks off slid them out the way and got a chisel in the gaps, prizing it open and hitting still no movement...
anyone had this trouble before?

i would put it back and take the engine away from bell housing but i dont have a crane and i cant afford to get a garage to do it at the moment!
