Hi, I'm Mark- new here of course.

I've popped over from the turbobricks forums as I've bought a 340 for my beloved as her first car and want to share in the knowledge that I know will be on here.

I've got me a little red 340 1.4 from Ebay. 1989, 1 owner, 35265 miles and full dealer history- I'm sure some of you were watching it on Ebay!

Anyway- I picked it up a few weeks ago. It had been standing for 2 1/2 years in the garage of the little old lady who had owned it from new and who had now passed on. I checked the fluid levels, marvelled at how the handbrake hadn't seized on and chucked a battery on it.
It started first time, and sounded seriously sweet, with none of that B14 piston slap that's so common on these.
Much to my amazement the clutch wasn't seized either, nor was it fried- a common ailment of any car belonging to someone advanced in their years.
So I drove it onto the trailer and took it home!
As you can imagine it was covered in dust, but the next day I spent about four hours valeting it and taking the disgusting seat covers off. To my amazement the car looks almost like new! It's red and there is no sign of fade and the interior seriously does look like no-one's ever sat in it.

Scrolling through the history this car has been serviced at the dealer twice a year. That works out at an oil change roughly every 1000 miles.

Not bad for £280!

Right, gotta go- it's 1.00am! :P

Plans for aren't much really. The car is so original and unmolested I don't want to do too much to it.
It needs paint on the front and rear valances, will be getting remote central locking and a CD/MP3 player, I need to find a roof aerial for it, I need to find a clean grey parcel shelf (the original has a couple of spills on it I can't get off) and I'm toying with the idea of converting it to automatic choke if I can find the right carb. I know that sounds strange, but it would be easier for Mrs BB that way.

Auto choke? Where's the vomit smiley?! I got Ruth to start Nessy from cold on Sunday. She was fine with it, and she's about as mechanically minded as...er....Griz sm56

There is one modification you're not declaring though, isn't there, you idea-stealing cretin sm56

cheers
