I wonder if I need to change the timing belt... dont know when it was changed last... maybe 100000 km... ?? Does it look like it need to be changed, or could I run it longer?
Its a simple job to change it, but just a bit involved to actually get to it, if you know what I mean
To get the top cover off, you need to remove the water pump pulley and fan cos it won't fit round it. To get the bottom cover off you need to remove the crank pulley, which means you need the fan shroud out otherwise you can't get at the bolt properly.
That sounds lika a lot of work just to get the cover off... For that kind of work I hate that the bonnet goes like it goes... By pulley you mean the wheel that the belts goes around?
From the pic's i can say, that that belt hasn't probably been around more than 60000km. But the change interval is 80000km. But i advise you to change, if it's older than 4 years (rubber has a habit of going bad under time).
The B200K engine will most likely crash the exchaust valves (and maybe some intake ones too) if the belt goes.
Of the 2,0L engines in the 300 series, ONLY B200E/F 1987-> with a compression ratio of 9,2:1 can survive a belt breakdown without damage.
