Hi
Does anyone know if a speedo cable is a standard item for all 340's or any other Volvo?
Any idea where I mmight get one, the local scappies have run out of 340s
Cheers

They're the same for all 300s, although they changed the design at one point, so you might need a matching 'adaptor' from grease cap to cable.

They're not actually too pricey at the stealership, so if you get really stuck...

cheers

Two different cables
1 for VDO and 1 for smiths - the ones on flea bay tend to be smiths btw

Volvo charged me a little over 30 pounds for the cable and an adaptor to fit into the grease cap on the hub. The adaptor is held in the cap by way of a retaining clip and then the end of the cable is threaded into it.

The retaining clip on the old fiting was pretty much welded in place and needed plenty of persuasion to get off - ie hacksaw and pliers. To get the new cable to thread through the suspension arm I shaved a little of the plastic sheathing off with a stanley knife - otherwise it simply would not go. This is the second time I've had to do that with a 300 speedo cable
