D cam

Post by Carl »

Does anyone know anything about the D-cam? I've got a brand new one hanging around and was thinking about fitting it, but not really sure how it would affect the performance. IIRC from the packaging it came in it was fitted the 242 GT.

Cams

Post by mac »

Hi Carl,

As far as I can work out the 'D' cam was used in the B19E in the 200 series from 1977 to 1983 (didn't have B19 in 200s in UK) and was also used in the B21E. (depending on market 242GT used either of these engines)
Max lift is 0.441" (11.20mm) and inlet opens at 15deg.BTDC.

In 360 both B19e and B200E/F use the 'A' cam (lift 0.414"/10.52mm/13deg.)

Mac.

It's slightly hotter cam than the stock A-cam, but tbh unless you upgrade the fuelling too you won't be able to take advantage of it.

OK, thanks for the info guys. Will leave it on the sidelines for now then.

It'll just be a cambelt and waterpump change tomorrow then. Which hopefully means I'll have time to sort the brakes too!
