my parents want to sell there 340 which theyve owned since about 1989. its covered about 54.000 miles and has been garaged since about 2000. its sound and has small patches of surface rust, the interior is exceptional for its age with no visable wear on the seats. it would make a good project for someone looking to create a future BKV winner and classic car. on the down side it needs an MOT as its been garaged for so many years. its had two owners from new and still has all the brochures that came with the car when it was originally sold. here is a pic i took with my mobile, if your interested please call my Dad (Chris) on 01406 426301. there looking for about £250.
By any chance has this been imported? That would explain the colour and the fact the wipers are going in the wrong direction!!!! Is it a RHD steve?
Adam
Wipers on early mk.2 cars go in the wrong direction - they weren't fully set up for RHD until '84ish I think. My '83 340 had wipers going the wrong way, but on my '84 360 they went the right way for RHD. I doubt it's an import. That colour was featured in the UK brochures of the era so I suppose it was probably available, just not very popular. Yellow cars never have been very popular in the UK.
Yep spot on Ed.. both of our 82 345's had wipers going in the wrong direction, it was either late 83 or early 84 when they changed over to sweeping in the right direction!
Just to confirm - the change to 'rhd' wiper pattern in the UK was from ch.no. 810500 (which was the start of the '84' model in Oct.83). The change was the result (in part) of a 'test drive' around the coast of England that I carried out with 3 Dutch test drivers in early 82. (we hired a number of competitors cars for evaluation - Talbot Horizon, a Renault etc.) One area the 300 lost out on was screen visibility - hence the change on RHD markets.
