Called into the local breakers tonight -nowt of any intrest 'til I spotted a 3dr 3 series wedged between a group of cars behind some sheds.
Upon investigation turns out to be a C plate 360 GLS 27500 from new one owner-he tells me it's goin' to the monster trucks to get run over.
Tried to buy it off him to save it but he needed 12 runners and 8 non runners for the monsters
Swapped the leads about so hopefully it'll run like a right sack and it might be spared a hideous death.
I like the monsters 'cos I've had acouple of tasty Yank trucks but this is sacrilige
Watch this space for further info, it'll be back by the weekend

I may be wrong, but were there Mk3 GLS's? I thought GLS stopped with MK2...
It's a real shame when people just think they're old Volvo's and not worth anything

Sorry for the confusion -I meant 3 series Volvo-couldn't see whether it was a 340 or 360 from distance
Let's hope it's saved

Good work on swapping the leads, maybe some fuses and relays removed, renix unplugged........ anything to save it! What a waste. Sadly so many people don't care. My 10500 mile vario, rust free, one owner from new was going to be scrapped by the garage that ruined it, claiming it was a load of old crap, no good to no one.
I hate to think how many perfectly good cars are scrapped for no good reason, and then the rare parts and items that are scrapped with them, that we'd appreciate and even pay good money for.

Couldn't see if it was a 340 or 360 from a distance, yet you managed to swap the leads?

And your point is what exactly?

Green people in here are strongly trying to get all cars out from peoples yards to scrapped because it is good for enviroment, also they are trying to get ppl to get new cars.
I don't really get this how it would be more friendly to enviroment to consume more, it is already insane how much we do have stuff that can be used just once, such a waste.
I prefer much more method where you can support older vehicles so that they are in good shape, maybe get cat installed or something like that to get discount to taxes etc. I really don't see point in current direction, but I don't see much point in anything that is going on in this world
Maybe it is because technically gifted are minority, you have to be social and helpless with tech stuff to be accepted by community, also laws start to be very much designed for ppl without brains, so perhaps this creates this kind of idiotism, like this person that intend to wreck this very good car.
My car's passenger door is suffering quite bad rust now, also hood is getting bad, so I would any day to swap my car to some without so much rust problem.
It really would need new hood and doors, or then really serious work to current ones

i believe something like 60-70% of a cars overall emissions are produced when the car is made. so it makes sense environmentally to run existing cars. even if they have no cat' or run on LRP.
i was speaking to someone at ford night at Ace Cafe who used to have a mint mk1 RS2000 that he had painstakingly restored himself. some little turd smashed the window of the car for no reason. 2 days later the council towed the car whilst he was at work as it looked 'abandoned' never mind the fact it had Tax and MOT then!
by the time he had the traced the car through the council they had already crushed the poor little escy. apparently there was not alot he could do about it. made me sick to my stomach when i heard it the first time, still makes me upset.

That's disgusting, they should be tracing him, not the other way round. With a number plate, tax and MOT there is no good reason why they can't contact him, for one they've got his property, which although looking abandoned wasn't and they should've checked. I wouldn't have let that one go! I'd want someones head on a block over that, including the little **** that broke the window.
Sven, it's a crazy world. My mates were moaning at me the other day, saying you'd not even want any new car would you? Pretty much, was my reply, they are of very little interest to me, a nightmare to work on for the DIYer and lack character. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's no good. What a waste.
