Volvo 360 2.0L Turbo Intercooler?

Post by GLT_vario_driver » 13 Jan 2004 09:34 pm

I was surprised 2 month ago
to learn that the B200 has been designed with a turbo intercooler for the large volvo 740.
I think this motor would be WONDERFUL on a 360.
Does anyone know if Volvo has done a 360 Turbo??
It would have been very efficient and economical to just keep the B200ET that was designed
for the 740.

No 360's left the factory with turbo engine. In Finland Volvo
offered a 360 GLT with dealer fitted turbo, though.

Actually I have got a 360GLT with a B200FT engine fitted
with custom intercooler and oil cooler pumping around to 150 BHP sm48 . I have a spare set
of half-shafts that I have never used :360:.

Half-shafts

Post by Julios » 19 Jan 2004 08:21 pm

It seems that VOLVO over-engineered these
halfshafts as well as many other mechical parts of the 360.

The 2.0L TURBO Intercooler is the one of my 740 that I
bought after a terrible crash with a 360 GLT. This car gives me as much sensations as my 360
GLT. It's hard for me to imagine this motor on a 360 GLT which is much lighter than the 740
series.
A :360: GLT TURBO should be an extremely fun car to drive.

kerb weight 360 GLT 1130 kg
kerb weight 740 Turbo 1360 kg
and the 740 stands on the earth lot better. have tried these both...
something is quite wrong in behaviour of 360 on curvy or gravel roads...
this is my opinion of course... sm4

In my vehicle I have got air conditioning and power steering,
also I have a custom made 2 1/2 " exhaust system, as well as 100kg of sound system which
brings the weight close to the 740. Also I upgraded the brakes. So the handing is quite good.
Try adding 100 kg to trunk of your Volvo 360 and the handling will improve dramatically.

Hi!

I have a 360 trackday car, and have recently found an opportunity to
buy a B200ET engine from a volvo 740. I'm just craving for that turbo power, and since there are some here that have done this conversion I would like to find out a bit more about it.

The engine I can buy was taken out of the 740 with pretty much everything intact. The guy who pulled it only cut the wiring loom to get it out. He probably does have the ECU, seems a bit weird to me if he cut the loom but I''ll find out later this week.

What is involved in the swap? I know that hoses need to be made to fit the 360, but what about the wiring? Is the wiring loom for the engine separate enough from the lighting/instruments loom to be able to simply swap the b200 loom to the B200ET loom?

Please tell me a bit more so I know if this is something I am able to pull off. I'm fairly good with cars, but have never done an hybrid engine swap before.
