has anyone tried any methods of making the 300's a tad quieter? since driving about it slightly modernererer automobiles i've found the 340 quite loud. wind noise is rarely an issue as mine doesn't go fast enough usually but would sticking acoustic wadding between the bulkhead and the interior do anything?

could anything be done to the b14 to make it roar(......) any less?

any ideas?

300s are pretty well insulated for their age in the bottom half, but the the top half is bad, and neither is good by modern standards. I want to do exactly the same, at some point in the future.

If you're looking for inspiration, go take a look at a reasonably modern luxury car in a scrap yard. One thing you'll see is thick wadding behind every panel in the interior.

I'd not try to quieten down the B14 - it needs all the free-flow it can get, and it's really not a noisy engine at all (except perhaps above 3500rpm at full throttle). I like to hear an engine anyway - it's natural (engines don't like being stifled), and helps me drive better, knowing what the engine is doing.
