hi there, i own a volvo 345 model, i was considering an engine transplant for the 480 1.7 turbo engine, just wanted to know what i would need for the conversion, can i use the gearbox from the 480 turbo? will the bell housing need to be changed? what about the driveshafts? suspension? etc, your comments are much appreciated, thanks 8)

Hi to do the actual conversion on your 345, you need the bellhousing, sump and engine mounts from a 1.7 340 and a clutch kit from both the 1.7 340 and 480 turbo to use a cover plate from one and friction plate from the other, but not sure which way round. You will need to get a steel prop made up if you want serious power.
As for suspension TBH that depends on what you want to spend. I have spent a load on mine on poly bushes springs etc but it depends on its usage aswell.

You need the 340 1.7 clutch plate (to fit the splines of the box) and the pressure plate from the 400 turbo to fit the fly wheel.

I did not need to do this as I am not using any 400 engine managment (yet)
