That looked excellent fun. I see you even went for it around the curved ends mate, you obviously felt you could and handled it well and it wasn't wet! Good work.

Good work Ali, that looks mighty impressive, given that it's in the dry, and considering the power limitations involved.

cheers

This is great, I get lot of information for V300mod from this kind of material, I think his car was standard, except welded diff and small (50kg?) weight reduction from mostly rear section of car?

Yeah the bonnet was propped up slightly to let the hot air out, basically I hate the way it looks like that but I booked the place last minute and thought I mayaswell try to keep temps down. I'm aiming to keep it flat and get some vents in the long run. After about 5mins of solid drifting the temps would go from about 1/2 up to 3/4. Round the oval it was off the limiter a fair bit of the time.

Decided to attempt the oval in the end but my mate did spank his S13 into it (you can see the dent in the rear left quarter on the video). I was really impressed with the 360, compared to the standard S13 I drove at driftschool it was so much more controllable and changed direction soooo much easier, its just lacking the power a bit (where the S13 could just keep on the power and link the middle section all the way back round into the oval). In the wet i'm pretty sure i'd be giving the S13 a run for its money but its a lot more exciting and rewarding in the volvo anyway as you've got to enter fast and keep the speed up instead of relying on power.

Jtbo, I can give you the full spec if you want for rFactor

cheers

Great, thx :D All information is needed to make it act most realistic way, tires are pita to set right as there just simply is not enough information available, also they seem to grip too much or loose all grip at certain point, or grip too little etc. I can see from video how it should be so need to aim something like that, but what tires you had?

It is not too hard to get everything right in rFactor, this is one file's rear right wheel parameters, there is two more files where is more of these settings suspension on tire files are also going quite bit scientific too :P

The tyres are 185/60/R14s and that was with 32psi in the fronts and 45psi in the rears. Suspension is new standard front shocks with 340 1.4 springs with two coils cut off, 40mm rear lowering blocks with glt rear springs (not sure of the difference between these and all the others but i'm sure they are different) and koni adjustables set to as stiff as they'll go. All soundproofing, carpet and rear seats removed plus buckets which weigh a fair bit less than standard seats. And from powerdyn it looked like I was making about 105bhp, not sure about the torque. Its got induction kit and exhaust but can't see that they add anything other than noise! The car still did understeer a fair bit if I was just trying to enter too fast under power but handbrake, clutch kicking and shift locking all worked really well to get it sideways. Also I need to work out how to cool the rear brakes as I was over-using the handbrake instead of abusing the clutch so much and by the end of the day it was fading really badly. I really need to get hold of rFactor as i've got the logitech dfp 900 degree wheel so I could give it a nice test and see how realistic it feels :D

Looking very competent out there, Ali 8)

How come you haven't ditched the rear wing?

Me too. Where can I buy it? I can't download (I'm not going to wait while the best part of 700MB trickles through a 56k dial-up connection). The rFactor website gives two links to buy the sim on CD; the European one is broken and the US one only seems to ship to the US.

play.com and amazon.co.uk don't list it. :?

I did consider ditching the rear wing to save some weight as i'm not sure how heavy it is but I like the look of it on a black car as it blends in better. I'm not really sure how far removing more weight is going to get me. Could go silly with cutting out metal from panels that I don't need but really to keep up with the big boys its going to need a turbo redblock eventually. Going to stick with the B200e for a while anyway as i'll learn more and then swapping to a turbo lump should make everything real easy!

I haven't found anywhere to download rFactor but got a 2mb connection so better get looking
