Post by classicswede »

Found this in amoungst my green books. Could be usfull as I have come across a couple of 3's with this problem. I thought it was down to wear.

It seems to me to be a case that the springs need clamping in position on the cups.

That's very interesting! My 360 GLT has fits of making this noise, then goes quiet for ages, then decides to start again. That's exactly what we decided it was (Pettaw and I) and didn't know whether to go for the, it should move so lubricate it to stop the noise, or it needs clamping to stop it moving route! I couldn't really see how it was wear on the 360, due to the lowish mileage. Good info, cheers.

Originally problem comes from top bearing support thing (that triangular rubber) being cracked due age, so it is not bearing that carries suspension weight but top spring plate. Now when you attach spring to those cups/plates to stop them rotating, steering might get somewhat heavier at times.

Would need new triangular things on mine as well, but that would require money, maybe can get them if I start making big bucks as an businessman

The other thing that can cause noise and often notchy steering is the bearings in the top spring cup.

Tempting, but really I have no money for gas either, just found out gasoline that was in tank (2 liters or so) had gone bad, as car did not start, it has stood only 2 or 3 months, can't remember. Well gas is much older.

Yes, that is really stupid, I don't need my car so often, so I would always need new petrol when I need my car, or then get some weird additive that costs same as amount of fuel I would need, not fair
