Volvo 340 Automatic 5 door Hatch, 1991 in Dark Blue
2 months MOT and Road Tax included in the price.
Made in the very last month of production, this is as new an example of the 340 as you can buy.
I have had it for three and a half years, but I've just bought a people carrier.
It has done only 92,000 miles (that's an average of less than 6000 a year) and is still in the condition only a Volvo would be in at 16 years old. I have been using it daily for work and will miss it when it goes
The rear-wheel drive means you get a very small turning circle. So you can do U-turns and get into amazingly short parking spaces, although I've never managed to get it into one shorter than the car. Being a Volvo you can also knock wrought-iron gates off their hinges with the bumpers (ask my wife), and not be able to see any damage on the car. This thing is rugged!
The interior, in grey plush, is in very good condition. There are 4 (four) Sony speakers but no radio. I have a Sony RDS radio with Minidisk and Sony DSO available for £50 that I removed to put in my Toyota but can easily refit for you. It sounded fantastic in the Volvo (Abba at major volume). All the little vents work perfectly and the fan runs at all speeds. There is a set of four extra accessory sockets neatly fitted below the ashtray & clock.
This car has a tachometer. It also has a tilting sunroof, not one of those unreliable sliding things. The sunroof has a sun-reducing glare filter on it.
The glove box light works. The boot light works. The instrument lights work. The little light that shows you where the ignition switch is works. The rear window demister works. The radio aerial is present on the roof and still extends and retracts.
It comes with a full set of original Volvo rubber mats. These have upturned edges, a great design feature that means any water (or fizzy drink) on them doesn't run off onto the carpet as soon as you go round a corner (like it does in other peoples cars).
It has electric front windows and electrically adjustable door mirrors. They all work.
The drive belts were changed at 70,000 miles and I have also fitted a new radiator, speedo cable, starter, alternator, rear brakes, auto control valve and carburettor. The headlights have all-weather (slightly blue) bulbs and the headlight wash/wipe works.
The front tyres are new Goodyear GT2s. The rear tyres are Continental Contact.
The wheel trims are the original Volvo ones that look like 760 alloys.
There are just a couple of things you should know about:
1. The heated seats don't work (I didn't miss them because I have never had heated seats before).
2. There are a few small rust spots on the drivers door and offside front wheel arch - see the photos.
3. The hour hand on the clock (below the radio) says 6 o'clock all the time, although the minute hand works fine.
4. The key doesn't turn in the passenger door lock. The door locks, but not on the key. (I always use the driver's door)
5. The driver's side rear door central locking often needs two or three goes to get it to lock. It always unlocks.
And before you ask, there is no power steering, ABS, alarm or aircon to go wrong. You won't have to fix any of them. And there is no cambelt to change. Please note that you don't need an alarm: nobody takes any notice of alarms and they just keep next doors baby awake when they go wrong.
If you want the roof bars to go with it, I still have them for £30 extra. I also have a streamlined roof box for £50 extra (that doesn't include the bars). I will even fit them for you.
£ 400 or look for it on eBay - 6 pictures there.
The ebay reserve is £250. Cash only on collection.
Car is in Northampton, NN5 4AE for your satnavs.
