R sport or not R sport that is the question???!!!!

Post by 340GLT » 20 Nov 2006 11:04 pm

Right well as the thread in general might have suggested, i have got my hands on an old momo steering wheel and now with an R sport horn push is a very good replica. Question is which wheel do i keep? As i like the old wheel with my second R sport horn button but i really like the look of the R sport wheel as it really suits the car!! So votes please guys!!!
Cheers Adam

I prefer the old one to be honest, but you should maybe lose the logo on the spoke if you're going with the R-Sport centre

I'm with Aaron, old wheel, new button, loose the current R. The old wheel suits *your* dash, more than the r-sport suits a 300 dash, if you get what I mean.

Curiously, the Dave Barton buttons are a bit of a red herring, as the original R-Sport wheels only had a plain 'Volvo' badge.

None of this imitation R-Sport wheel stuff anyway....my 'genuine pimp shiznat' arrives this weekend ;) Shame there's no boss, no button, it needs recovering, and cost many, many times what yours did....but the wheel is stamped with 'Volvo' as well as 'Momo'. :D

Hopefully we also manage to track down my 'nice' R-Sport wheel too, but that all seems very quiet.

cheers

Plain "Volvo" badge, what do you mean?

I mean at least my original button is quite like that replica. :P

Interesting....are you sure that's the original button? Although I can't find pics at the moment, I'm sure all the rest I've seen have a plain 'Volvo' badge.

cheers

Hmm.. Now that you mentioned it, I've also seen ones with the plain badge.

But I would be VERY surprised if that button would be a Barton replica, as the car which my wheel was taken from, was a 240 which had been laying in a barn for maany many years and the wheel had been in the car since the 80's. Wheel is 100% original for sure, it has the product-ID's and Volvo logo painted on. :P

Aren't those Barton buttons kinda new product?

This one guy here has a same wheel as I do, I'll have to check what button it has. If it has the same as mine, it's definately original. Because he also has had the wheel since new. (It's the white roof-change 360 with the B19ET and twin dellortos, originally it was turboed at the dealer when new and it had an R-Sport turbo kit before)

Ok, the badge is definately original. I've got a magazine article from the 80's and R-Sport button is shown. :P And that's a 242GTX 16V straight from the dealer, so it is original for sure. ;)

R-Sport badge can be seen clearly. I also remember seeing some Finnish magazine articles about the 343/345 R-Sport and those also had the same badge.

So there are two kinds of badges available as original too. :)

Mmmmm... That's a nice car. I feel more and more drawn to the 200. Maybe it's because I passed my test in a 240GLT estate
