Firstly, not wishing to be a spoilsport, or any other sort of killjoy, drifting on the road isn't clever for many reasons. Firstly there is the simple risk to the public. Then there is the risk to your licence, as your plate is clearly visible, the car is modified, so will attract attention. Then if the Police link Volvo 300's to drifting on the road, anyone in a 300 is going to be a target and get hassle, like the Barry Boys might.

As you were attending a drift day, on private land, that appears to be set up in the correct way and run well, that's the place to practice and learn the skills of drifting and show them off.

It's safer, won't attract the wrong attention and reflects better on everyone!

Anyway, lets see the videos at Bovingdon instead! It's looking pretty good.

With regard to drifting on the road can just say that I am not a complete idiot... That little stretch of road is effectiely a private road just leading to Bovingdon airstrip and as you can see there were no other cars on the road....

I take your point about drifting on the road as yes could be very unsafe but I am not going to lie and say that I dont get the car sideways from time to time... as im sure many people on here have.

I value my driving licence more than anything that I have, and I also have become very fond of my little black Volvo as well :D ....so I am very careful to avoid losing / damaging either of them....... what I dont do is engage in any sideways action when any other cars / people / are nearby for obvious reasons.

With regard to 300's becoming recognised by the fuzz as 'troublemakers' cars I dont see that happening ever.. which I guess is the beauty of them for us all!

Just wanted to explain my point of view so people dont get the wrong idea of me!! :D

Fair enough mate! You've just got to be careful as to who sees what, as I understand some forums do get watched for such activities. It wouldn't be clear to them that it might be a private road. As with everything, there is a time and a place. As I said, not trying to be a spoilsport, just looking out for you and your licence and V3M. If you respect your car and want to look after it, it's much better than someone wanting a cheap car to use and abuse and wreck, then move on! You've put time, effort and money into it, so it's in your best interests to look after it too I spose.

It's funny how cars do very quickly become associated with certain types of driver, not only by the Police either. And when the vehicle is not the common suspect for such activities, it will stand out more!

Some nice arty pics too! Bloody digital cameras, my new one has been playing up, resulting in some pics being tinted pink.

Sorry for threadjack.........

Nah, it was on Auto! And no settings to play with in video mode. The rear screen was flickering mate, as a result of the sensor in the lense I believe, as it would take a pic with the flickering and lines, and at this point was taking pink sky pics too.
