Thats the only one I don't have... I play rFactor, and GTR, GTLegends and GTR2! I know a couple of guys play it though, so as I seem to remember it being free, I'll see if I can get it

Crap physics in GTR???? Are you sure? I've found that to be the best of the lot! The first couple of laps do feel wierd, as the tyres have no grip until warm. I've just downloaded LFS, so I'll have a play!

GTR has indeed crap physics, silly completely unrealistic data is used to create cars.

You can get LFS here http://www.liveforspeed.net/ free version has 3 cars, one is quite close to 360 performance wise.

I have been driving LFS from it's very beginning, LFS is only one that I know that has real turbo, turbo rpm is completely separate from engine, well of course exhaust gases affects to it's rpm in realistic way.

Here is my stats from LFS http://www.lfsworld.net/?win=stats

A M R, GT Legends, rFactor and GTR 1&2 are all based to ISI engine, rFactor is most advanced of these as it is ISI product, others being licensed, oh yes title called RACE is also with these.

rFactor physics are as good as you make them, well sure it has some flaws as other ISI engine based games, but basicly it is possible to make very good from it, just takes lot of time so many modders won't bother...
Similar way LFS has some flaws, but one can't do nothing about them, only Scawen can.

Oh yes, I think I like this RAC car most, maybe because it is real car and Finnish, but also because it is not super easy to drive when pushed hard, like some of LFS cars seem to be, they are somehow too stable or something, even when sliding.

indeed, i have also been playing since before S1. nice stats btw 8)

RAC is pretty tricky at first, but is great fun once you learn to control it.

if anyone wants to play lfs, i stronly urge you to get a good steering wheel with pedals or at least an analogue gamepad.
a good wheel would be the logitech driving force pro (meant for ps2 but also works on pc). an even better wheel is the logitech g25 - but it costs £150

if you are going to be playing lfs, please pay the £24 for all the cars and tracks - it truly is worth it

I didn't know that!!!!

If that's the case then I'm getting one tomorrow. My friend's Momo is an amazing wheel, but I really want 900deg. rotation.

Has anyone tried the Driving Force Pro with a PC... does it still all work?

Ali uses a driving force pro... I'll be getting that or a G25 soon, analogue gamepad is a mission in most games.

Hmm, might have to look into that.

I know the Momo is a great wheel, and I really want the 900 rotation, but I'm tempted to wait until the G25 comes down in price, or the January sales, just to get the 6speed shifter and the clutch.

I'm using dfp too, 720 degrees in lfs, less with those open wheelers.

I have not raced for long time, so I started practising recently, not much, I just have this slalom course set up and I'm now trying to run trough it with F1 car, bit hard to control as can't get nice clean lap:

Yeah im running the driving force pro on the PC, works fine :D REALLY would recommend getting a wheel if your going to play any racing games, it makes such a massive difference. You could probably get away with the mouse on the demo of LFS as none of the cars are that fast but you couldn't really use mouse/keyboard on the full version very well as the throttle would only be on/off which isn't very good in a F1 car!! I'd also think the driving force pro will come down in price/come up very cheap second hand after xmas when the G25 comes into stock everywhere. Think of all those spoilt kids getting the G25 for xmas  bound to sell their old wheels for cheap.

I've played the demo of GTR2 and quite liked it, downloaded RACE and thought it was pretty damn bad but my pc didn't seem to like it very much and it was very glitchy. My favourite driving game by far is LFS but enthusia for the PS2 is probably my 2nd favourite, i'd say the only problem with LFS is the lack of feeling for weight

I've played the LFS demo, and seems quite good, but no downloadable mods spoilt it for me. Mainly I play rFactor with a Logitech MOMO wheel. The G25 looks ace, but a tad expensive.

I'm planning to make a clutch pedal out of an old joystick, as that's the main thing I miss :)

We play now almost every evening with guys from finnish Volvo forum. I did won today, twice, but I think I'm not going to be victorious for too long, lol.

There is replays, those dated 2007-Jan-07 are from today's races, there was some lag in first one and neither of them were very exciting in my place as I did keep some distance because of lag and of course running to win does require some speed, lol.

Made also XRG BL1 PB in 2nd race, 1:35.1x I think it was.

Silly question of the day: Does it just plug into the PC or does it need an adapter? I've not used used a PS2 so don't know what connectors it uses. USB?

Cheers,

Gavin.

it uses usb so thats why computer gamers took to it. it was orginally intended for the ps2 when gran turismo 4 was launched, but someone found out it would work on pc...

anyway if you can, try to get a license for live for speed. its much more fun although it costs £24! all the cars are unlocked as well as all the tracks and there are some really good servers on the full version with no crashers or idiots. oh and theres hardly any lag.
