After trouble getting the car started the other day (traced to a hole in a fuel line piddling fuel away  ) My Starter motor is about kaput.

So my mates dad just sold me a new one but its one for the pre-1981 B14 engine (mines an '85),

So... does anybody want a Ducellier (SIC?) starter motor for £15 + p&p (no box but its never been on a car) and does anybody know where i can get a motor for an '85 B14.4E engine and a what cost.

Thanks

No and no to both.

Take the old starter to a local auto electrician see if they can recon-used to be little money when I last did it-admittedly a while back but worth a try and atleast you know it'll fit.

both starters can be used. The earlier ones were bigger and were replaced by smaller, stronger units - turn the engine over slightly faster.

you can use the older one ok :)

I've changed the starter in an 83 1.4 ( early type motor ) for a later type with not probs. The clutch housing didnt change I believe so they should be interchangable.

actually, renix cars will have mounting for the flywheel ( engine speed ) sensor for the renix ignition unit so the clutch housings maybe different but you cna change one starter type for the other as that part of the housing didnt change.

you are looking to change an early type for a later type? should be fine since later type fits early type without probs

Im removing a starter this weekend too... :)

The later one might fit the older cars but ( as i found out yesterday ) it doesnt work the other way round, the duciller (sic) has the solinoid on the top (paris-rohne has it on the side) and the exaust manifold fouls the solinoid.
Goin to the scrappy tomorrow morning so i should have it fixed soon, and ill see what other goodies they have for the 300s.
