Oil consumption

My car burns about 1 liter of oil every 2000 km. There are no leaks. There's no noticeable blue smoke. As the engine otherwise runs fine, I don't want to take it apart yet. What can I do to lower oil consumption? Should I change the oil grade? Right now I'm using 10w-40 as the manual recommends and the records show it was changed regularly. I don't want to put in anything else than what's in the manual (10w-30 or 10w-40 for these temperatures). Do I really have a choice or should I just live with it? As I drive a lot these days, it's easy to forget to check the oil level...

No oil in water and no water in oil. Yes, it's probably just burning it. I'll try changing brands, I've heard it helps sometimes.

I find that strange, so much!

We are talking about the B200 here, even with 240.000 km it's strange > I can't really admit the explanation that it's just burnt :?

How and where do you use the car? (I mean motorway, speed...)
