i have a 1981 345dl and i was wondering is it possible to swap the 1397cc b14 2e engine for a latter 1700cc engine. the car has a manual 4 speed gearbox.

Thats possible. But it is quite a lot of work!

I could do it ina day tbh if I had the complete 1.7 donor car to take it from. Its all bolt in so not that bad to do - the exhaust is probably the hardest bit.

You only need a system off a 1.7 to do it. The problem is s/h ones very rarly seal on a refit.

Haha yeah, and getting an existing system off without mortally damaging it is virtually impossible unless its very new, ie: less than a couple of years old, and hasn't rusted on
