My wife wants a volvo 340!
She wants the 1.4 engine & also wants power steering - dis volvo ever put power steering
(PAS) in the 340, if so, which model? (GL, GLS?)
Is there any potential problems to look out for? How many miles do these cars run for before
they start becoming unreliable?

I think that the only Volvo 300 whit power steering is the 360
GLi... Then again who needs the power steering in 340?

The Volvos 340 produced during the last years have
sometimes power steering, the 360 GLi isn't the only model with pw. For example you
can find a "simple" Volvo 340 DL vario with pw!
The 1.4 is a good engine (coming from Renault BUT good ) Mine has 240.000 km. All
you have to do is check frequently the fixation of the carburetor...

you must consult UK Volvo club or
dealer about it. was this option availeble. 360 was in Australia...2,0 liter injection only.

here in Finland it is the only whit pw. I guess

Some UK market 340s had power steering(PAS), but it was
more common on the 360. I think there was a discussion on the UK Owners Club Forum
(volvoclub.org.uk) a few months ago about the parts needed to retro-fit PAS to a 340.
By the way, another rare option on UK 340s was full leather seats.
