dont know much about these engines (yet), but do the obvious checks first:

plugs, leads, distributor, check fuels getting to it alright, fuel filter, fuel pump.

never heard of a carb engine doing this so im assuming its a injection you have. so check maf sensor (if it has one), these cars dont come with lambda sensors do they?, idle control valve, give the throttle body a good clean on the inside, check injectors, stick in a bottle of injector cleaner.

if all else fails, get a new engine, ecu, and wiring loom and you'll be sorted

I would suspect a fuelling issue - try filling the tank and see if that helps things, if so it's almost definitely is a fuel problem. Think fuel filter and fuel pump

sure, a clogged filter will cause intermittant fuel starvation and hesitation. worth changing regularly anyway.

good luck!

Then injector could need cleaning too, air mass meter can be worn and cause such things.

The 240 does that on low fuel level when running on petrol. If its only when the level in the tank is low don't worry about it.

I would say that if that is 240 with 2 pumps then tank pump is dead or dying if it does that, when everything is in normal operating condition there should be no difference what amount of fuel there is in tank.
