No car will ever feel that fast to me again

Post by Stavros »

Not after today
I was officially more scared today than ever in my life

13000rpm and 2.3bar boost on dodgy B-roads in a car with about 1000bhp and weighs about a ton

Was scary enough at the best of times (it does 0-160mph in 9.3secs at lower boost than was running today  ) but when the car totally blows away the tyres as it hits 11500rpm and we wildly fishtail on a road barely wider than the car with grass banks either side, i may have actually shat my pants if it all didnt happen so fast i didnt have time to

I said "Woah, fuck" he said "yeah, at 11500 the bridgeport really kicks in so easy to lose traction then. We could run a bit more boost actually though, look"

Thing is, now im home, I want another go! 8)

Ive owned and been in some stupid fast cars, done 197.6mph (real speed, not speedo speed) at Bruntingthorpe, but this was bloody nuts, makes a Veyron look like a relative snail

Sounds like drag racing car to me, hmm, I think I have seen clip from some insane car in UK that has plates too, can't now even remember which one it was, maybe some Vauxhall, but my memory likes to have hole in that place. Anyway I think it had 1000bhp.

Edit: Hmm, I type slow

Sort of a drag car, well, a drag car in the sense its ran 9.1sec quarters.

But its a proper road going car, really does handle well, hell, an old lady called the police on us partway through the day for drifting on the road near her house

I guessed rx-7 when I saw the rpm... then dubious with the power, then saw the word Bridgeport.

That one need to be rebuilt every how often? If theres a write up of it in the magazine might well be worth a look, I have a secret love for that engine. How do you get that power out of something that small?!

Either someone had borrowed an old F1 engine (or boosted a new one), or it was going to be a rotary :)

cheers

160mph terminal speeds kind of hint the power estimate isnt far out, same as the GT45 running 2.3bar ;)

enourmous ports, 13500rpm, and a mega boosing 1500bhp rated turbo means that performance is well within reach.

but theres lots faster ones down under, just none faster in europe 8)

and id put money none faster gets driven on the road like this one!

no idea on rebuild times, cant remember now, but id estimate LESS often than your average piston engine 3litres or under producing the same power, and damn sight cheaper to rebuild too.
its lasted a long time so far, he far from shy with it, a nice drink of premix helps the engine live too ;)

Rotaries are huge down under, aren't they? I've often wondered why.
