And convert the tank so it's baffled so the high pressure pump doesn't run dry, and uprate the fuel lines, unless you want to convert to carbs. It's a straight swap in that the block bolts in, doesn't mean its an afternoons work.

I'm currently dropping a turbo lump in mine, you'll learn a lot from it. I believe the OP's question was however how does he get more power from the stock engine ;)

Firstly, is it running well now? You'll find a well serviced engine will offer more of a power change than a K&N ever will.

That on stock injection system with wiring it in? I'm impressed if it is. How much longer does it take to get the knowledge to have a clue how to do it :P

it runs ok but as i haven't passed my test yet i can't drive it so it's stuck in a garage at the mo when i bought it the guy at the garage said it would go 2.5 miles and then cut out so i took the fuel sender out and took the stupid little filter off cut the pipe at a 45 degree angle and blew the pipe out and it ran better than it did but don't know if it's solved it but i have a spare carb for it anyway

In which case, will an insurance company take you with an engine swap having only just passed your test? Something else to think about, I'm now 23 and can insure the turbo easy enough.

Tbh, to get to learn driving, a stock 1.7 running well will do you fine, I compete in rallies in one. It's 85bhp/ton when running well.

Thats what I was meaning! How easy is the 16V loom? And are you running carbs, or did you convert the fuel to high pressure spec?
