Any tips on buying new clutch kit? I had a clutch cable on my '86 2.0 360 GLE replaced recently, but I was also recommended to have the whole kit replaced too, because that's apparently what eventually caused the cable to brake, due to too much tension.
I contacted a few suppliers here in Croatia, and the price I got was about £ 200 for the new kit, which seems a bit too much...or isn't? From what I can see on the net, these are available in the UK for as little as £60 onwards.
In case I decide to order from elsewhere in Europe, what should I pay my attention to, i.e. are there different kits, as I would like to get the right one, possibly!

£60 seems reasonable from a 'shop'. They can be had for less from eBay. We've been lucky with cheap clutches, in that the last two we've bought (one because it was the only thing available that day) were the same as the OEM ones!

Thanks for the answer! So, basically, what you're suggesting is that I shouldn't pay more than, say, £100 for the new kit, which is still half the price these guys over here are asking? Giving away another 100 just to get it delivered here seems like a rip off at best...

Yes, it appears that someone is making a fat profit. I think it's about £130 at the dealership here...and they usually make the fattest profit of all

Thanks, mate! Well, in that case, I might just go ahead and have a look around to see what's on offer...I'm a bit reluctant, though, bacause I want to make sure to buy exactly what I need, to avoid dissappointment if opening the pack and realizing that it does not fit!

I generally find manufacturers to be pretty trustworthy when it comes to clutches doing "exactly what they say on the tin", especially if you buy a complete kit in one box.
