Mudflap retaining clip for passenger side

Post by MJ »

Anyone have a good condition mudflap retaining clip for the passenger side? (I don't know if the clip is the same both sides, it probably is)

I think it must have come off when I accidentally backed into a cone the other day (first accident in the 340 :( ) It just slid along the side of the rear bumper. I pulled forward and got out to check the bumper and paintwork, and all seemed fine so I thought I'd got away with it, but when washing the car yesterday I noticed the mudflap was a bit loose, and the spotted the missing clip.

You can see in this photo where the clip should be.

The dealer can't get hold of a new one, so can anyone help?

Thanks in advance :)

What you mean he can't get hold... ffs, what is it with dealers?!!?!? Mine got me a bag the other day (could only buy a bag, pittance for 5) had to get them from the abroad warehouse, but still.

Remind me next time I see you if you havn't got one by then, although I only run with one per side if that eases your worry

Just looked, seems I got 6, as I have the bag unopened with 5 in it. I lose them regularly going through lil puddles on rallies, but part number if you want to shout more and your dealers didn't give you it is 3273049

I'd imagine they arn't 300 specific

I know I've had this argument with you before Nick... but you try following a car with no mudflaps down a waterlogged motorway. Mud flaps should be made compulsory, if you are that worried about mud, wash your car ffs :p

Or don't follow the car in front so closely when it's wet?

Bah, I asked the guy on the desk, he went to ask the parts guy, and came back after a couple mins saying that they were un-available .

Maybe I'd better ring up your dealer and ask if they could post some. Unless I could buy one of your set ;)

Tbh it's worth a phone call to a few dealers, and asking for the parts dude, then saying "Can you get that part number, it should be a clip"

They really were pittance (a quid or so I think) if you can't get one, then you can have one I have here, I'll just try and get you to get one first as I go through them at a rate of knots!

Yup, sounds a good plan. There's a local independent garage we use sometimes, and they get genuine Volvo parts, so I'll give them a ring first :)

Thanks for the part number, that'll make things easier :)

Well I phoned up the parts department of the same dealer today, gave them that part number, he confirmed that it was for some kind of clip and said he could put in an order no problem. I think they were 40p each, so I went for 2 so as to have a spare, and they'll hopefully arrive in a couple of days :)

Shows how much easier it is when you have a part number, thanks Chris! Fingers crossed they turn up...

Hang on a mo, does this mean that MJ's car has actually left its lair and seen use on a road?????
