Aye, the Sun act like one of the cool kids at school, bragging about how they're against all the orwellian developments encircling the modern motorist, and then they do a load of detective work to grass up some poor sod who just wanted to go fast at 7am on a sunday morning.

If he can convince that he had tampered time setting of camera to give illusion that he was driving that fast and also can proof that speedo was made to show such speed even car was not moving, then he should be fairly okay and could sue Sun.

This hysteria about speed should stop, there are loads of more dangerous drivers out there that are never even meeting speed limit!

Also here it is similarly stupid, there is no speed cameras or cops in city or slow speed areas, only at highways and quite often in such time when there is not too much of traffic, so all bad drivers are already at home or at hospital...

Actually Jani for a conviction, the police would have to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that he had not tampered with the speedo etc. The driver just has to cause some doubt :)

Yesterday I had a few possible speed trap panics on a dual carriageway causing sudden braking :(

Indeed, all this stupid focus on speed when it's bad drivers that are the problems, and inappropriate speed. It's just that a simple speed limit is quantifiable, and can be calculated by a machine, not needing a trained, experienced traffic cop with discretion. :(

This is why I never show my number plate, give away my location or post my phone number on public forums :P

Posting that sort of picture where it's clear that you're on the road is pretty stupid, to be fair. I have a picture of the instrument cluster of my 360 showing it doing ~130mph, but there's no way of telling where it took place (Elvington can be hired, y'know ;)), or whether or not its 'real'. You could jack the back end up and take that kinda picture pretty easily.

equally you can hire places like Longcross and Millbrook, which are private land but have stretches that look like public roads - They are both testing grounds, Longcross being Military and Millbrook being civilian. In fact, you quite often see bits of reviews and stuff on Top Gear that were recognisably filmed at such places...

Millbrook:

Speedo cable's on the front wheels isn't it?

The easiest way to get a high reading is using a drill to turn the cable... or so I've heard :)
