I got a redline

I have managed to pick up a redline. It hasn't been on the road for a couple of months since the MOT ran out and there is going to be a fair amount of work involved in getting a new MOT on it. It's a 1989 done 189,000 miles (just run in!) and is in black, which actually looks like a really dark metallic grey. Engine wise it sounds and drives well but overall it is suffering from a lack of TLC.
Does anyone know how many redlines were made? I know they were a limited edition but that could be thousands!!.
I want to post some pictures on here, can someone give me some pointers as to how.

Yes, it is the one from ebay, the pictures did hide a few things though. Why don't people clean cars anymore when they sell them? I'm not complaining though at £103 I think I got a good deal, and the mud was free!!. I'm quite surprised I managed to get it and more people weren't interested.
It has the longest MOT failure sheet I have ever seen, but some off them are really harsh in my opinion.

Considering they were a 'limited edition', there seem to be a fair few knocking around:

Cornholio - smoke silver
fidgad - black
fume - black
germ - smoke silver
nigelbi - smoke silver

Not to forget the esteemed Mr Redline. He liked them so much that I believe he's owned two. You know the rest...

yes Gavin you are quite right I have owned two , one I broke for spares and the other I believe went the same way two owners after me ,

I dont know how many were produced but if there are only 5 redlines left they and theeven rarer bluelines are becoming scarce

There have been four or five redlines on ebay of late, I used to see two driving round here (both silvers), and one in Watford (black) but not for a while.

I think Fidgad sold his to buy a 400, but I can't remember! Havn't seen him at a meet for a while.

There does seem to be a fair few around. I did ask the guy I know who used to work at a dealers but he wasn't sure. He did say though that every dealer had to have a blueline and there were 130 dealers at the time so he reckoned at least 130 were made but not many more.

He was at the 2006 BKV with his Redline. I was surprised as I thought he'd sold it; he had the 400 at the time but had held on to the 340. Can't remember much more, I think we spent more time talking about his Harley.

Fume, that ties in with what George Mitchell wrote in the FOTV3 article he wrote about bluelines.

Anyone else ever found it weird that the redline in the brochure is on an E plate?

i have seen somewhere that 1000 were made. and estimated 11 left in uk

best 300 ever, and any one that says differnt hasnt owned one

iam thinking about getting another...i think the volvo bug has got me.

I will definitely get it back to how it should be if there is only that amount left. Pictures will be coming once I have played musical cars and got it home - it's on in-laws drive at the moment!, and cleaned it of course.
I presume Chris that they are all on an F plate and all 1989's. I haven't seen the brochure, but chances are it's a publicity car registered just before the letter change then punted out to a dealer.
