Tiny bit of drizzle, mainly dull. Glad I'm not in the midlands at the mo as most of it is underwater in flash floods. It seemed pretty wet at times in Germany during the F1 today as well

Friday was a bit special, went up to see Kate in Swindon, and the A34/M4 junction (well... about 10miles before I was...) was stationary, so I decided to go through some lanes, had a map to hand. Kate had tried to tell me it'd been raining a bit, but knowing better, I decided to go anyway.

First 5 miles, went through a few fords, about 12inches deep, all good, following an XC90. Then, get between Marlborough and Swindon... decide to go over the Banbury Castle road, as it's at the top of a hill, and is an awesome road... until I found what comes after the hill, a valley

Water for about 300m (should have got a pic) and was about to bail, when I see a Honda fake 4x4 going through... Tried to ask the driver how deep it was
"Gwuff, you'll never get through there mate, I only just made it"
... nope... I asked how deep is it...
*honda drives of laughing*
Ok.. all of a sudden, I see a Jag X type going through, and it's about his bumper level. Fair, right, off we go then. Fake went through the first section fine, and although had a lil clutch slip in the second bit, managed to give the clutch a twiddle to try and heat it up a bit, which seemed to work. Then carried on, back onto A road, which was also flooded, but this time with "helpers" (granted, they were helping, but seemed to slow everything down more than needed, telling everyone how to drive through puddles... then again, I guess most people don't) So, sat waiting for 20 mins in the queue, with all the water from the big puddle steaming out from the bonnet (I don't have a splash guard atm, not that I think it would have stopped much, I had tide lines over the bumper ;)) This then lead to the nice man in the mondeo behind me telling me that I was overheating, and I must switch off my car. Show him the temp needle..
"nope, they don't work on old cars mate"
Awesome... best show the nice man my full bottle of coolant, complete with 1.7 swirlingness to proove its working. Not often you get people looking out for you, even if they do take some persuading ;) Granted I was billowing steam down the road at the time...

Anyhoo, out of all the stranded cars (including fake 4x4's which amused me) Fake did awesomely, and didn't miss a beat. Now to go and get her a 300m breast stroke badge ;)

You're bloody lucky you didn't hydro lock the engine, if water was at almost bumper level that's almost near the air intake.

Yeah, I know... I was being exceeeedingly conscious as to where the air intake was.... and keeping the revs up so it didn't go in the other way too!
