Kind of a roadtrip

Post by Fuse »

Kind of because I stayed at our summerhouse for 3 weeks but hey did over 1000km of driving during the time.

Finland is called a country of thousand lakes, maybe after these you know why.

Ooh it's a lake. Stopped to eat by some lake, I had a portable grill with me so I cooked some traditional Finnish summer food, grilled sausages and meatballs.

GLT also had time to rest a bit.

Again after couple hours of driving I stopped for a coffee at this caravan place, surprisingly it featured a lake also.

Arrived at our summerhouse and heated a sauna. There's also a small lake behind those trees back there.. The cottage is literally in the middle of the woods, so it's quite peaceful there. Buildings could be considered quite archaic though, built right after the war when there was shortage of everything, but somehow I like it there. It's my father's childhood home, there used to be a small cow stable there also and a barn but those have been taken down in the early 80's..

Headed to fishing.

We also got many rivers and rapids. There was a restaured blast furnace from the early 1800s by the rapid.

Stream was too powerfull there so I headed down the stream and found this place called "Nurmijoki" (translates "Grass river") There was a lean-to building near, too bad I didn't have any sausages left.

Me making discoveries from the lure box, whee it's a car aerial plug! (From my uncle's Ford Orion I suppose)

Fish wasn't biting so I headed on, look it's a lake! Apparently fishes didn't enjoy the stream at this time of day, I got few pikes from the lake.

Of course I did some work with the car also, repaired few rust spots and cleaned it inside out.

AC would be nice.. (Outside temp isn't accurate, really it was something like ~25 celsius degrees outside, sensor is behind the front bumper so it gets some heatsoak..)

Finnish summer is full of trees and water, that is what is dominating scenery :D

I have driven this summer up to north of this country, all the way west and quite bit to south, bit over a week from now I will travel to southern parts of this country and scenery is same. Even it is very beautiful, sometimes it would be nice to see bit different scenery when driving along :o

I put some various pics here http://www.janiervast.com/kuvat/index.p ... road_pics/ It is Central finland shown in pics mostly, also one Vauxhall (Opel here) driver that did not how to drive.

As you can see, it is pretty similar looking ;)

Of course there is lapland, it is bit different looking place:
