I have put in a bid for one on Ebay but I have one slight worry that it won't fit in the car I want (340 1.7) I only really want it so I have a rev counter. Now will it be a straight swap or have I wasted some money?
Cheers
I really am a noob at Volvo's lol

A 6-gauge dash is never a waste of money

But they are rare-ish so if all you need is the rev counter it might've been cheaper to go for a standard dash from a scrapped '85- on 360 without the econ & temp gauges.
The rev counter should work, see

Swapping the speedo over is also an easy job to do if you want to keep the mileage.
If you want to get the extra gauges working, you may want to look out for an outside temperature sensor and a T-piece / tapping for the econometer. There're loads of posts on that topic, like this one:

Best of luck!

T piece is what you'd need on a 1.7, try aquatic shops

And for a temp sender, they are on any scrapped 400 series with the info centre in the dash.
I've got a 6 gauge in my 1.7, as well as my 1.4.
