That is a very nice mk1 - if only I had room for a load more cars and the money to MOT Tax and insure them all :?

I do have some MK1 odds and ends if you are interested including some very good headlights spedo heads etc.

Best of luck with the car a take care of it.

Jealousy buzz

I saw it on ebay and the pics made it look a bit rough. It goes to show how misleading photos can be.

What a find, great 70's colour! I like the steelies too, don't think BMW alloys would match the car too well ...

I almost can't believe that was the same car on Ebay.

Tom

PS Now go off and buy some Dinitrol :-)

hello people, sorry i have not had a chance to reply yet.
your very right the BMW alloys may not look the best but my 14inch bottle tops might?

for now im staying with the steels as i spent ages sanding them and painting them silver!

i also painted the metal bar on the front bumper satin black as that had some slight surface rust on it too.

the front wing has a dent in it so that will be coming off and i will try to bend it out - i got told it was done by an angry man :? he was arguing with his wife then turned to the nearest car and kicked it  the old lady should have used her walking stick and stuck it up his Ar##!

i got this car as i really wanted a 300 series volvo but now i have it i think its too much of a classic to do what i wanted to do with a 300...

Dinitrol is rust protection. Our very own petefarrell360's posted quite a bit on that subject ...

I recently used several cans of Terason cavity protection spray on my 360. It comes with a tube which, after you've fitted it into the spray nozzle, you just wiggle into the runoff holes of the sills as far as it will go, and then start spraying, pulling the tube out slowly. This way you've covered the insides of the sills with the stuff.

The inner wings also have bungs fitted, which can be reached inside the engine compartment. You could also take off the door cards, and give the insides of the doors a good going over, and check the boot lid as well.

It's well worth doing a bit of rust prevention, bodywork is the most expensive stuff to have to fix on a car, so it's good to make sure that's taken care of. Mk1s are known to rust badly, much more than the later models.

Once again, I just have to congratulate you on that car! :D I think I wrote this once before as a reply to one of radiodanno's posts, the '79 is such a good year for Mk1's. You've got the retro-style exterior of the very early 343's (and the psychadelic paint jobs), but a Volvo-style dash & seats rather than Daf ones (but that's just a matter of personal taste I guess). Also, you got the manual option, up to Autumn '78 the cars were all varios ...
