There is alot of talk about energy conservation carbon footprint etc in the papers Well my local paper had a feature about a biplane called Gypsy Moth which actually weighs about 1200kg ie comparable to a 340/600 but of cause it is light enough to leave the ground What I want to know are the Volvos energy efficient Yes I say at about 60 mph they are whereas a Jumbo Jet weighs in at 600 tonnes -all that engine power needed to keep it off the ground with a bit left over to drag it through the air

Strange topic. :?

A jumbo uses approx 12L a kilometre, my car at a gentle highway cruise does 12l/100ks. but a jumbo can caryy 550+, where as my car is a squeeze with 5, so a jumbo uses 100 times more fuel, but can carry over 100 times more people, and it travels about 10 times faster at 900+kph as opposed to a 90kph gentle highway cruise.

I think the jumbo wins.
