Mk2 340 - Save from Scrapyard

As seen on the VOC....
Hi

I have my girlfiend's blue B-reg Volvo 340 GL for sale (or it's going to the scrapyard).

It's a good runner and has done a genuine 57,000 miles. It's had only three lady owners (my girlfriend, my Mum and my Mum's friend).

The interior is very tidy but the exterior has rust patches along the rear wheel arches and the bottom of the doors, a chunk out of the left hand wing mirror and the boot struts don't hold the boot up any more. It will also need a new battery pretty soon.

It's taxed to 29/02/08 and MOT'd until 16/08/08
Make me an offer if you are interested - pictures below.

i already managed to get a mk2 spoiler like new last week for my mk2 360.
its odd bits like the front window chrome trim which is wider on the mk2's and also a mk2 black bonnet vent.

just little things really.

cheers

It does seem random that he's asking £150 more than the (at best) scrap value, and listing scrapping it as a very real alternative...?! Not saying it's not worth £250, but it seems a bit daft saying that - it's opening yourself up to someone offering £10 more than the scrap man! :)

cheers

Yeah, I thought that too Foggy. Even stuck on the good old bay of E you'd get more than scrap value I reckon, and probably cover your costs too. Maybe they're not interested in the hassle of selling it if they don't get a decent amount for it, or they're not in touch with the realistic value of the 300.

The other option is, as we see so often, a decent car, probably with not a great deal wrong with it, if anything at all being sent to the scrapyard for whatever reason.

Where can I find a mk2 spoiler then?

Foggy you still got your mk2 GLT?

Going by the reg plate and the 'revo' lampost, it's somewhere within a couple of miles of here... in fact I know exactly where that is and it's 5 minutes away on bike

**update**
just had a look at it - good points: tidy & clean, back valance area solid, door bottoms might be saveable, tailgate & bonnet mint, no visible dents anywhere
bad points - rear arches do need replacing to look right (back halves both rotten), front wings frilly around the whole lower edges, front valance rotten
