Hi, welcome to V3M the short answer is yes, the slightly longer answer is to use the search

there are quite a few guys on here who have done the swap and a good few threads about it.

You need to fit the 1.7 sump to the 16v engine. The biggest issue is with the inlet manifold as in std form the TB is where the heater box is. You can remove the heater box, alter the manifold or make a new one.
To save all the wiring a lot of conversions run on carbs and have a manifold made to do it

As the others have said yes they do fit, F7P's found in R19's MK1 clios etc are all the same
The bellhousing from the 1.7 340 and also the 1.7 sumps needed and also as Dai said the inlet manifold needs slight customisation and also you need a custom exhaust manifold.

look for the engine from a r19 not the clio as the water pipes on the r19 are easyer to use

Is it any harder to fit an F7R? I know most of the internals are different to the P, but are the rules the same for the swap?

As far as I can see (and from what I've spoken to Dai about with it) the F7R has the startor on the other side of the block, so the cut out on the block and the bellhousing will be on different sides.
I'm keen on this swap as well though John, as soon as I get my turbo running reliably, I want to properly sort out Fake for rallying, and the F7R seems a better starting point for that.

If you are going to that amount of work I'd opt for teh vauxhall lump myself. At leat the wirng side will be fairly easy as teh vauxhall has a seperate angine wiring loom.

Good job I stopped short of buying that F7R and all those williams stickers then!
Y'see I'm not that keen on the P, but the R pushes my buttons a bit more as it seems more tunable. Agreed on the XE, I loved mine, which reminds me, I must update that manta thread...

this is slightly off topic, but what carbs do people run on the clio lumps?
I know one that has gsxr1100 carbs, but was wondering how well they fitted. do they just fit straight onto the manifold, or do you need to fabricate a mounting plate to them that will fit onto the head?

Eventualy i too will probably be getting round to this conversion, but one query i have is thus.
Is there anyway it can be done and still retain the heaters, because imho they are one of the best features of my car, but then i'm used to cars without them at all!

bike carbs. or get the inlet manifold moddified..
both could be expensive.
