swapping to in tank electrical fuel pump

Mate i told you no straight swaps. You will either have to mod the tank or the sender. I can sort you out with one still if you need it.

What im going to be doing is running a Golf MK2 GTI 8v fuel pump assembly, which includes a swirlpot,

If i remember correctly you run a normal fuel lines from the fuel tank to the Fuel pump then you run High Pressure injection stuff to the fuel rail. Which will remove the need to mod the tank,

They can be found under one of the rear arches on the golf.

you leaving the mechanical system in the tank then? got any more detailed info on the layout?

I'm running a Facet red top low pressure pump, into a largeish (1L) swirl pot under the bonnet, then either a 740T or Cav GSI high pressure pump (which ever I find quickest ;)) Theres plenty of ways to do it though!

which is what im struggling with. so i could keep the stock pipes up to the bonnet in to a swirl pot, then use a high pressure pump from there onwards into the fuel rail.

intresting.

Indeed, but you'll need a low pressure pump too, as your OEM one was a mechanical one run from the cam. The bit in the tank is only a level sender, not a pump.

oh so i might as well spend £60 odd and get an in tank solution! and spend a few quid on fuel line! least its all tucked away neatly there.

But the tanks not baffled. If you run a high pressure pump dry, it'll be quite upset...

right,

how about i buy one that sits outside the tank. and run high pressure line from the sender int he tank to the pump and then to the raila nd then just send the return back to the tank? then all i have to do is put a hole in the tank for the return line

For the clio engine you ideally want an 8mm feed and a 6mm return
on the standard volvo sender from memory the feed is 6mm and return 4mm or there abouts on my conversion i ran an in tank pump set up to the correct tank height and use the old feed as the return.
Never had any problems.

Can't really picture it...Have any photo's?

My roommate Frits (rwd-student over here) used a bigger fuel-pipe to the engine, and the original feeding for the return line. And a R5 GTT pump untherneath the car. The in-tank fuel line stayed original. And it does work fine till now. This all for the GTT conversion

Im also thinking about building a 360 tank under my car. (would give me space for a LPG tank untherneath the car) Does that have bigger piping? Its a huge job with a MK1, cause the body is different. With a MK2 or 3 it's a lot easier.

What this forum needs is a 16v-Bibble! The Dafclub in the NL has that for the B14 rebuild they are always doing. I'd be happy to wright one. But I don't really have a straight-forward car for it (MK1)

Hmm didn't realise that! Is it that they don't have the 360 fuel tank mounts? Is it specific to early/late Mk1's? As later Mk1's got the 2 litre engine?
