As above, how easy is it to remove?? Can I remove diff from casing with diff in car??

ou will need to drop the back of the gearbox/diff down and then you can remove backing plate and weld in the car.

Weld in situ is the way I've done it with no probs. Make sure you have a heafty mig to do it.

what exactly DO you weld when you do this?

My plan is to return my GLS to spanking new condition (over time) and probably swap the bits into a 3 door. Just so's you all know im not some scrapyard drifter trying to wreck another 360

Weld the spider gears, but you need a really decent welder to get good penetration (read: welds will hold) and also the gears will be oily so they need a really good clean to make any kind of decent weld. To put another myth to rest, you also still require oil in there after welding one.

haha yeah i would have thought so too...

wont be bothering with that anyway... if its 'anhilate the clutch when drifting' or 'ruining the rubber around carparks when parking' i think i'll take the cluch repairs, as i park my car a little more often than i drift it
