I don't have a tachometer in my car. Now it's only Clock and speedometer. I try to find a diagram a tachometer in diesel. How revolutions was measure. From alternator or in another way???
Please help me!
do you have a late vdo dashboard? from a '84ish or later car? if so you *might* be able to just plug it in. i dont know alot about the diesel engine- it came off the coil in the petrol models. perhaps the diesels weren't available with a rev gauge?
The car is from 1988. I quite sure that in some diesel cars revolution is measured in alternator. The voltage frequency is proportional to revolution. In this way revolution it's measure in e.g. VW or AUDI, but i'm not sure what it's measured in Volvo.
That won't work Hugh - for a start the scale will be totally wrong due to the lower redline.
You'll have to go aftermarket, and I'm not at all sure where you'd get such an item from. I suggest you have a look around VDO and Autometer's webites.
