For your information. Found an old set of MR2 springs lying about. On close inspection the are a perfect fit but twice as stiff as the standard springs.

Just thought I'd share the info.

My car's front end is Rock Hard now :D

Do you know if they were front or rear mr2 springs? also from which shape? the round mid 90s model or the ones before hand?

Are they the same length, or are they shorter?

As far as I know they are the rear springs. They are from new shape MR2 that came out in the 1990's.

The spring length and diameter are nearly identical but the coils are twice as stiff. I did chop them in half though because the car was sitting too high with them due to them being so stiff.

Combine them with stiffer shocks (or fill shocks with EP80) and who needs coilovers???

I am very pleased with the result. Now just need to stiffen the shocks :D

I have a good other one:

Volvo 850 Estate without Nivomat (thats what its called overhere...)

Size:

300:

width: 127.00mm
Length: 362mm
thickness: 11.20mm

850 Estate without nivomat (!!):

width: 128.00mm
length: 362mm
thickness:13.33mm

Need to be lowered:

The left ones are without nivomat. You can see the first ring is smaller, so needs to be chopped.

I love this site!!

lol

just when i was wondering what springs would sort the front end out i read two things from 2 posts:

>buy rear MR2 springs and cut them to size (figures; they are used to carrying an engine around)

>weld some brackets in up under the lower 'cup' on each leg to add strength

Just thinking about it, this would pretty much sort out my suspension problems. Cant wait to try it out :D

This would work great combined with the Landrover shocks don't you think?

the rear mr2 springs are for the front, and the "front" landy shocks are for the rear, lol

 I was a bit confused...

So what do we know now?

Front shocks: ?
Front springs: MR2 rear springs, 850 Estate rear springs
Rear shocks: Landrover 90 front shocks
Rear springs: Double leafs

where we getting double leafs from??

if someone can tell me that, I'll be a happy man :D

gonna go buy some MR2 springs next payday. I would say that these are the better option if they do fit, as they come from the same end of the doner car as it's engine, as opposed to the 850 whose rear springs which aren't deisgned to take quite the same stress..

front shocks? i'm still using standards, so wouldnt know. im as eager as everyone else to find out though.

Double leafs? From a 340, from the rear...:D

something like half the leaf, and fix it underneath it. Will work ok!

above or below the spring that is there already? above, i would guess...

will this mess up my lowering blocks?
