*Feeler* Rear bracket for Disk conversion

Post by 340GLT »

How many guys would be interested in this?
My bracket involves having to remove the rear hub to bolt it on. The kit would consixt of all brackets and bolts and then a list of other components to buy, the kit will definately fit the 340 and would retain the original handbrake, i will need to have a look at a 60 to check to see if it would fit straight on.
The kit will allow fitment of a 239mm solid disk.
But at a later date with different calipers a vented rear kit will be available that retains the same brackets.
I'm going to look again into an easier front brake setup.

tbh, being from the 360 crowd it would pain me to lose the awesome handbrake but obviously 340 handbrakes are less efficient

No by what i said i know the 340 and 360 have different cables due to the fuel tank setup on the 60, the drum is bigger ut the mechanism is shared on 40 and 60.

Interesting idea Adam - folk are probably going to need an aftermarket brake bias valve to get the balance right if they go this route

all depends on cost.

Im intrested, and have already brought some of your stuff. but seeing as its just brackets could you not with the right calipers fit vented disc's anyway?

some pictures would be nice aswell.

No the way i built the rear setup there is a direct swap of disk and caliper that retains the same bracket.

ah.

Then maybe it is worth putting up what discs and callipers are required so people get a view of how much extra they will have to sort of pay for the parts. :)

When you say retain the original handbrake, isn't the reason behind the handbrake being decent the fact that it actually operates the rear drums directly, which will be removed and replaced with the disc setup... I'm probably being very stupid... but can't be bothered to think about it so will just wait for another post to point it out

Ok the setup retains the original handbrake cable on the 340. And i know the mechanism is the same on 340 360 drums so on a 360 it should retain the original handbrake too, make sense?

I am definately interested, but would'nt I want the front upgraded first?

Knwoing the costs first would be a good thing...
It may take a while for me to take a front and rear set, since I want to get the car on the road first. The way it is looking now that will take up massive amounts of time and money...
