I can't hide drifting is going well. The 1.4 turbo engine is running great and I learned a lot from the build. For now its power enough, but I'm already thinking of the future. If I'm going to drift some bigger competitions, and can't keep the 1.4 as its not powerfull enough.

First, I'm gonna do all other things like cage, seats, suspension etc. However, after that I want big power. I can tune the 1.4 further, but I think its not a good idea.

I've thinking about;

renault 2.0 16v on throttle bodies or turbo
2.3/2.5 16v (maybe 8v) on throttle bodies or turbo

The engine doesn't have to be ready at once, as the car is running great. but if i made a decision, I could start search for parts. A guy in Holland wants to give me advise and probably sponsoring (if it would be a redblock) and help .

I don't want to do a 1.7 turbo or a 1.8 16v as the difference is not big enough.

I would think that to get a setup that would provide a big boost in power with potential for much more power in the future then a b234f + turbo would be a good route... not sure about the complications relating to fitting it into a 340, but it can't be that hard and it would be a very strong engine with enough power to force you to upgrade the gearbox/ prop/ diff at some point

Only advantage to renault stuff is that it's a bit more revy but imho it is much cheaper and there is more information available if you go with a volvo redblock (not to mention the parts and help where you live, with all the Volvo original cup drivers around)

I reckon you should go 2.3 redblock, use the 360 drivetrain, shouldn't be too hard to get 250bhp and that should be a nice amount without breaking the drivetrain too often!

If you've got sponsorship for a redblock install then sounds like a no-brainer to me. Plenty of advise on how to tune them at http://www.turbobricks.com./. I'd go 8v personally - simpler, cheaper and will soak up more abuse.

Swapping a 340 over to Volvo oily bits wouldn't be a serious barrier for a man of your abilities.

Problems with the Renault engine:

- Weak driveshaft
- More expencive tuning than the Red block I think
- Can take limited abuse

The red block's are more proven to be good, and can take a hell lot of abuse. 16v turbo would be nice...But an 8v turbo would go nice to I think...

Last friday I bought a damaged 3-door 360. My new sponsor RUVO (and also volvo freak) will help me with the power! In the beginning it will be a nice little tuned 2.3 NA redblock. Turbo-options for the future are still open.

We found the engine for the 360. Because I'm gonna get my rally licence, the car will meet the rally restrictions. .

The car stays N/A, but I still wanna drive driftcompetitions as I'm good in it.

Well, I hope the 340 is running again quick, so I can make a decent start to the 360.

Fast foreward! Had the first rallyschool day. Sunday I go to germany for a tarmac track and a gravel track. Can't wait!

Two practise days left, one navigator day and Exam, and I'll have my licence!
