• 360 diff on a 340?

will a 360glt diff fit on a 340? with or without its gearbox?

Yeh two options, without gearbox then bolt it to your gearbox, or with gearbox, but the snout of the box will need to be swapped over.

the actual diff unit is swapable from what i have read/understood by reading it. (Volvo tech manual!)

Yeh but you will have to swap crown and pinion then reshim to get backlash right so just unbolting complete unit is much less hassle.

Much, much easier to unbolt the diff housing from the box than to start messing with the front plate.

As far as I'm aware, all 5 speed diffs are swappable with each other.
