Yup. Both are Renault engines, whereas a B19/B200 is a Volvo engine.

Thanks Tom, is the B19/B200 the number for a 2 litre engine?

Yes. The R-Sport 2 litre is sometimes called a "B21E", but the rest of the 2 litre variants are either B19A / B200K (carb) or B19E / B200E(EA,F) (injection).

You would need to replace whole driveline, also for MOT you probably need to replace rear brakes as 360 has bigger drums, but don't know precise law in UK. Engine mounts need to be replaced too, with B200K you also need fuel return line, but I think all 300 series cars had one, even 1.4.

It is quite lot of work, imo. Specially if your car is not perfectly rust free, I would recommend to find 360. But if you plan for using it to motorsport it should not be too much of work as one needs to take it apart anyway.

much easier to put a valver in tbh, and would probably be the best solution for modest power aspirations.

1.8 16v or 2.0 16v Clio lump. Gives approx 140BHP

You'll need a 1.7 lump as a base for it, because you need parts of that one...

It makes sense that a B14 is a 1.4 which is what the metal plate above my oil filter says but why does the B172 have the 2 after the B17?
