More fuelling issues?!

Once again I am having what seems to be fuel starvation issues!

It started when the car felt a bit juddery and about 5 mins later it would barely move under acceleration and then 5 minutes after that it wouldn't drive at all.
It would idle - just. Any attempt to increase the revs was met by it attempting to stall.

I had to drive about 6 miles home with the choke pulled fully out, slow going but I made it. I don't understand why I couldn't use the accelerator yet the choke worked?

I have two ideas what the problem may be, the first is the flexible fuel pipe I used to replace the old braided stuff doesnt clamp down very well on the 99p inline plastic filter I fitted, and the feed pipe has twice now been 'pushed' off the carb. Causing air to get in? At first I put this down to a poor jubilee clip (philips head type) I replaced it with a decent proper one and nipped it up. I couldn't pull the pipe off, yet a few hundred mile later and it just slides on/off.

The second idea is maybe the carb is at fault. I have another and will swap it over. It came from a running 360 and I would like to see what it runs/performs like.

GRRRR

I will get new fuel hose tomorrow if the motorfactors has it in, Anyone know what ID it should be?

I read that my often wise cracking friend, all bolts be tight on the carb front. I recently stripped n serviced it.

That is to say I pulled it apart, I didn't clean it naked 340pw

 No worries dude!

The Mackem in me was concerned at the amount of fuel I was using at a constant 2500rpm though
I also looked/sounded a tit if I didn't push the choke in a bit when I dipped the clutch/stopped lol

I have a duty as one of very few A reg cars on the road at this time of year to not be crawling along with my hazards on! :360:

Now's the time to swap for my (injection) GLT then!
TBH, I don't know what the problem is, but I do have a mate who's proper handy with carbs. You could probs have a dodge over the unit at the weekend and he'd look at it for ya. Or we could come to you, by my reckoning you're like 5 minutes away.

Just taken delivery of £100 of Bilt-Hamber rustproofing chemicals, and I'm off today so it's a long weekend and the car's getting attacked.

Good luck with the attacking dude. Sounds like a good weekends work is afoot.
To the filthcave!
Dunna dunna, dunna dunna, dunna dunna, dunna dunna Tatman!
Pops has got mine for the weekend so should be all systems go by mon, providing the wheels turn up.

He might be having that glt as well. The bodykitter, not the one chris wants. He wrote the daily driver off, three days driving mines given him the fever.
And theres only one known cure. A v300 daily.
STAT!

Well I hope he's alright man. See, didn't I say there's something about a 300 that you can't resist? That's great news.

Hes fine man. Misjuded a large puddle on a bend up near belingham in his lpg hijet.
Tried to persevere through it but when he got round the bend it was actually the river had bust its banks and he had no chance. No way back, no way forward, up to the screen, floated a bit, sank a bit. Dead.

Waiting to see. Nobodys been over it yet but insurance has written it off. Might be a good buy back. Have to wait and see what they say. Was mint like. Almost new. With me and him in the front ahead of the rollers, emergency stops with nowt in the back were always exiting. Stupid cheap to run n'all. Killer if youre my size tho. Urgh.

Spam

lol. Cheers for that John I will have to take you up on the offer mate! I think I'm busy most of the weekend but I'll PM you for your number and see if we can sort something out when you/me have time 340pw oh and don't tempt me with your GLT  I like the look of a mk3 8)

I have changed the fuel pipe. Was running 8mm before, now it's 6mm. Much better, nice tight fit everywhere (boiling water FTW)
Started the engine and still the same! So i swapped to my spare carb and once the fuel was pumped through it was much happier. Was misfiring (I think) for a minute or so but I persevered with the throttle and it seemed to clear up. I then adjusted the choke cable and disaster! The clip that holds the cable to the carb body has broken. Now I have no choke and the car seems very juttery/missing again. I have drove it with no choke cable before and although cold idling was an issue it never done this!

Does this shed any further light on the situation and does anyone, preferably local! have one of the clips in question?

I still plan to drop the fuel tank and flush it out/repipe but that's a job for the summer as I will weld the diff and fit a clutch/change the gear and diff oil at same time. I just need it to work for now!

BTW I haven't tried driving it yet, because with no choke If it breaks down I will be stuck and I think the AA are getting a bit sick of me!

Cheers, Liam
